Friday Five: Five Great Foodie Top Ten Lists

7 August 2009 No Comment

Today, we’ve rounded up five of our favorite top ten food lists recently published around the web. From French eating to great bars where you can sit back with a stiff drink, enjoy!

1) Ten Great Places to Master The Art of French Eating. The USAToday list includes some of the best French restaurants in the country, from greats like Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud.

2) Top Ten Eco-friendly Wineries. The Huffington Post list is missing a few of our favorite green wineries, namely Parducci and HALL, but if you’re an eco-wine buff, here’s a great place to start!

3) The Ten Ingredient Shopping List. New York Times food writer Mark Bittman gives a great list of ten ingredients that are most versatile in your kitchen – with recipes to make them into five great meals!

4) Ten Best Food-Themed TV Shows. Our friends at the Village Voice published a fab list of food-themed shows, with master chef Julia Child leading the pack. It’s certainly missing a few fan favorites (readers have noted their missed shows in the comments) but it’s a great list for food fans worldwide!

5) Nine Places To Party Like It’s 1929. In a nod to the growing interest of old-school cocktails, Budget Travel offers a super list of bars across the country where you can enjoy a strong drink in a nod to the old speakeasies of yesteryear. Since there’s only nine, and it’s a Top Ten list, we’ll throw in one of our favorite spots for a drink – the 21 Club in New York City, which includes a “hidden” wine cellar used during Prohibition days!
