Taking It To The Island With Barbados Food & Wine and Rum
In a number of new food and wine events that have sprung up over the last few months, the Barbados Food & Wine and Rum festival certainly caught my eye. After realizing earlier this year at the Cayman Cookout that every festival weekend should involve sand, surf, and sun, Barbados is yet another wonderful event that fits the bill.
For this year’s inaugural weekend happening November 19-22, a handful of favorite chefs will be offering culinary demonstrations and general beach-friendly fare for those who make the trek to the tiny tropical island. In addition to a number of local Barbados chefs participating in the festivities, London chef Fergus Henderson will join chefs Tom Colicchio, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, Tim Love, and Rob Feenie for a weekend packed with culinary adventures, including a luncheon at a local rum plantation, a catamaran cruise, and an evening at a local estate. Wine man Anthony Giglio will present a few wine seminars, with Travel & Leisure’s Niloufar Motamed on hand as well.
Other fantastic events happening over the weekend:
- Late Night on the Bay, featuring late night music, munchies, and tropical beverages
- Rhythms of Rum Cuisine
- Ambrosia: Savor Barbados
- A Taste of Two Cities
For more information on the lavish weekend, check out the event website for tickets and accommodations. American Express Gold Members can also access special packages through the American Express Vacations website.

DB items of note!
Starting next month, I’ll be implementing a few new things here on Daily Blender. One will be the release of a monthly newsletter, offering bits and bites from behind the scenes at DB, including pics, chef quotes, and exclusive info on upcoming features and events. Next week, on your regular visits to DB, be sure to sign up for Hot! Behind! (cheeky, no?) to get the inside scoop on what’s happening at Daily Blender.
Also in November, I’ll begin offering opportunities for advertising and sponsorship. From products and services to special events, I receive regular enquiries requesting placement, and wanted to open up space for those interested. While traditional advertising (banner ads) will be available, event coverage, event photography, and sponsorship of Daily Blender categories, columns, and individual posts will also be available. Interested? Look for the new Advertising page next week for more information, or shoot an email over to advertising at dailyblender.com for details.
