Conde Nast Brings Kids’ Restaurant Week To DC, NYC

Fab and foodie magazines, Cookie and Gourmet, have teamed up to develop a new Kids’ Restaurant Week!

According to Juliette at Super Chef, the two publications are sponsoring the first ever Kids’ Restaurant Week this month in Washington DC, June 13-21st, with additional weeks in Chicago and New York, June 20-28th. Participating restaurants will offer special discounts and fixed-price menus with dinner seatings from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. Prices are spectacular, with kids aged 11 and under paying their age, while adults and children 12 and over will pay $29.00 each. The DC week will have a portion of the proceeds donated to local charities, Eastern Market and Miriam’s Kitchen. For more information, and a list of the participating DC restaurants, head on over to Super Chef.

In related news, a recent study indicates that children’s eating habits are rarely influenced by their parents, which I found quite surprising. The study finds that other factors, such as ‘community and school, food environment, peer influence, television viewing, as well as individual factors such as self-image and self-esteem’ play greater roles when it comes to eating decisions.
